Howell Opera House / Livingston Arts Council

Vendor Information & Terms

Thank you for your interest in participating in vendor events hosted at the Howell Opera House. Vendor events are presented by the Livingston Arts Council, a nonprofit arts organization serving the Livingston County community. Please review the following terms carefully before submitting your application.

Booth Overview:

  • Tables are not included with booth rental and are available for $5 each.

  • Location: Howell Opera House (Indoor Booth Spaces)

  • Booth Size: 8x8 indoor footprint (unless otherwise stated for a specific event)

Booth space is secured upon written approval and receipt of payment. Event capacity varies; once an event reaches capacity, registration will close.

Vendors must remain open and operational during scheduled event hours. Early teardown or departure may disrupt the guest experience and is not permitted unless approved in advance by event staff.

Vendor Eligibility & Product Standards

Vendor events are curated to support artists, makers, and small businesses while maintaining a high-quality experience for guests. All applications are subject to review and approval.

Eligible Vendors

Each event may have specific eligibility criteria depending on its theme or focus. Accepted categories may include, but are not limited to:

  • Fine Art (Painting, Drawing, Mixed Media)

  • Illustration & Printmaking

  • Ceramics & Pottery

  • Fiber Arts & Textiles

  • Woodworking

  • Handmade Jewelry

  • Sculpture

  • Artisan Goods

  • Specialty handcrafted products

Product Requirements

Vendors must clearly disclose all products intended for sale. The Organizer reserves the right to limit duplication of product categories to ensure variety and event balance. Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance. The following are not permitted unless expressly approved in writing:

  • Multi-level marketing (MLM) or direct sales companies

  • Resale or buy-sell merchandise

  • Mass-produced or commercially manufactured goods

  • Copyrighted or trademarked material without proper licensing

  • Hazardous materials or open flames

  • Food or beverage sales without required permits and prior approval

Sales & Regulatory Compliance

Vendors are solely responsible for:

  • Collecting and remitting applicable sales tax

  • Complying with all local, state, and federal laws

  • Holding any required licenses or permits

  • Setup and teardown of all booth items, including load-in and load-out.

  • All parking arrangements and any associated fees.

The Howell Opera House and Livingston Arts Council are not responsible for vendor tax reporting, licensing, or regulatory compliance.

Historic Facility Standards

The Howell Opera House is a historic facility. Vendors must take special care to protect all building surfaces and architectural features. Nothing may be nailed, screwed, stapled, taped, glued, leaned, or otherwise affixed to walls, floors, ceilings, trim, railings, windows, doors, columns, or fixtures. All displays must be freestanding and contained within the assigned booth footprint.

Display & Responsibility

Vendors are solely responsible for the safety, stability, and structural integrity of all displays, racks, tables, shelving, and merchandise. The Organizer reserves the right to require modification or removal of any display deemed unsafe or non-compliant. All displays must:

  • Be self-supporting

  • Be stable and secure

  • Not obstruct exits, hallways, stairways, or fire access

  • Not create tripping hazards

  • Not damage flooring or building surfaces

Vendors are solely responsible for their own property, merchandise, equipment, displays, and materials at all times. The Howell Opera House and Livingston Arts Council are not responsible for any loss, theft, breakage, damage, or destruction of vendor property, whether occurring before, during, or after the event, including during setup, event hours, overnight storage, or teardown. Participation in any vendor event is at the vendor’s own risk.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Vendor Cancellation

Booth fees are non-refundable unless otherwise stated in writing for a specific event. If a vendor cancels participation for any reason, no refund or credit will be issued unless approved at the sole discretion of the Organizer. Booth spaces may not be transferred without prior written approval.

Event Cancellation by Organizer

If an event is canceled prior to its start date, vendors may receive either:

  • A refund of booth fees, or

  • A credit toward a future event,

at the sole discretion of the Organizer.

If the event is interrupted, delayed, shortened, or partially canceled due to circumstances beyond the Organizer’s control, including weather, natural disaster, government action, emergency, power outage, security issues, construction complications, or force majeure, refunds are not guaranteed.

Final Approval

The Organizer reserves the right to approve, deny, or revoke vendor participation at any time if products, displays, or conduct do not align with event standards, safety requirements, or the mission of the organization.
