Learn to Play Mahjong
We have new dates for learning to play Mahjong at @Howell Opera House. Thursday, June 19, July 24 and August 21, at 6:30 pm.
With a nominal investment of $5 per person paid at the door, you learn the ancient Mahjong game (Chinese rules), have fun, and make new friends.
Mahjong sets will be available. We’d like to encourage you to bring your set in case we're short. Game rules/cheat sheet provided.

A captivating new series featuring six one-hour storytelling concerts.
Prepare to be transported to different worlds through the power of the spoken word. This inaugural season promises evenings filled with laughter, wonder, and profound human connection, all within the beautifully intimate setting of the Howell Opera House.
This exciting new series will feature the talents of acclaimed storytellers from across the United States, each bringing their unique style and captivating narratives to the Howell stage. Audience can look forward to a diverse range of stories, all delivered with exceptional skill and artistry.

Livingston Lamplighters Barbershop Chorus
The Livingston Lamplighters Presents:
The Motown label's signature sound, a blend of soul, rhythm and blues, gospel, and vocal jazz, became a defining characteristic of an era.
Motown artists like Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, The Marvelettes, Marvin Gaye, and The Four Tops had a profound impact on music and culture, breaking down racial barriers and uniting people through music.
The Lamplighters Family chorus will be presenting the best from Hitsville USA, as well as being joined by the Lamplighter Band, our member quartets, and many more surprises!
Seating at the Howell Opera House is general admission and there are no reserved seats.
A portion of our proceeds go to benefit a local charity.

Rocky Horror Picture Show
Once again, the 70s cult film classic returns to the Howell Opera House! Dressing up as a favorite character is encouraged for the costume contest, but not required. Doors open at 8 pm, and the show begins at 9 pm There will be a cash bar and light concessions available for purchase.
Rated R - under 17 requires an accompanying parent or adult guardian.
The ticket price is $25, which includes admission for one and a participation bag.

The workshop is Monday, July 28 through Thursday, July 31, 2025 / each day from 10:00 am to 11:30 am
The cost for the workshop is $30 ($25 for tuition and $5 for supplies).

Learn to Play Mahjong
We have new dates for learning to play Mahjong at @Howell Opera House. Thursday, July 24 and August 21, at 6:30 pm.
With a nominal investment of $5 per person paid at the door, you learn the ancient Mahjong game (Chinese rules), have fun, and make new friends.
Mahjong sets will be available. We’d like to encourage you to bring your set in case we're short. Game rules/cheat sheet provided.
Learn to Paint in the Style of Bob Ross
Learn to paint with Ted Simpson, Certified Bob Ross Instructor.
Join us for a fun and relaxing painting session. No experience needed, beginners welcome! All supplies are provided, and each participant will have their own individual paint station. Bring a family member, a friend, or come alone and enjoy this creative and memorable experience.

Tour of the Opera House
Have you ever toured the Opera House or thought about doing so? Did you know that the original Opera House still exists upstairs on the second and third floors? Well, we invite you to step back in time and experience the year 1881. Feel what it was like to attend a play, a graduation ceremony, or a birthday party when there was no electricity, heating, air conditioning, or bathrooms. This was a different world from what we know today.
We are scheduling monthly tours so everyone can have the opportunity to experience this very special place, the Howell Opera House.

This is a new series celebrating the rich traditions, flavors, and stories behind the cultures featured at Cultura. This exciting first event invites you to connect more deeply with Japanese culture through the art of sushi and the tradition of sake.
Learn how to craft your authentic sushi rolls under the expert guidance of Sushi Chef Dawt Rem. You’ll prepare and enjoy two delicious rolls:

About Dixon's Violin:
You've never heard a violin like this! The world's premier visionary violinist, Dixon, is on a life mission to inspire people, and he has successfully done so at over 1,000 concerts across North America. This includes four TED talks and performances, over ten years at Burning Man and Electric Forest, as well as numerous radio, TV, and film appearances. A former technology leader and symphony violinist, Dixon left behind a distinguished career to pursue his dream full-time and invented a completely new music genre. He now improvises on a 5-string electric violin with a looping system he developed to create an all-live, one-man symphony, guided by his remarkable personal story of transformation in life.
