After a fabulous inaugural season, Opera House Live - the Storytellers is back. Prepare to be transported to different worlds through the power of the spoken word. This second season promises evenings filled with laughter, wonder, and profound human connection, all within the beautifully intimate setting of the Howell Opera House.
This exciting new series will feature the talents of acclaimed storytellers from across the United States, each bringing their unique style and captivating narratives to the Howell stage. The audience can look forward to a diverse range of stories, all delivered with exceptional skill and artistry.
Tickets are $15 in advance, or $18 at the door.

– Children’s Scary Story – Begins at 6:30 PM - Free admission – on the first floor.
- Adult Scary Story – Begins at 8:00 PM - Ages 14 and older – The event will take place on the second floor of the Opera House. Please note that there is no heat, so if it's cold outside, the Opera House Theater space may feel chilly. Tickets are $25.00, which includes dessert and beverages. Limited seating is available.

Rocky Horror Picture Show
Once again, the 70s cult film classic returns to the Howell Opera House! Dressing up as a favorite character is encouraged for the costume contest, but not required. Doors open at 7 pm, and the show begins at 8 pm. There will be a cash bar and light concessions available for purchase.
Rated R - under 17 requires an accompanying parent or adult guardian.
The ticket price is $25, which includes admission for one and a participation bag.
Online ticket sales will close at 3:00 PM on Friday, the day of the event. If any tickets remain, they will be available for purchase at the door.

Tai Chi with Richard Lim – Beginner Series
Join Richard Lim at the Howell Opera House for a progressive 8-week beginner Tai Chi series designed for anyone interested in learning the fundamentals of Tai Chi in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Each week, participants will learn a new beginner form while building on movements from previous classes. As the series progresses, the individual forms will be connected to create a smooth, flowing sequence. No previous Tai Chi experience is necessary - just come ready to move, breathe, and enjoy the process!
Tai Chi is a gentle form of movement that can help reduce stress, improve balance, increase flexibility, and support overall well-being.
Beginner Series: October–November
Tuesdays | 6:30–7:30 PM
Cost: $12 per class
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. All levels are welcome!

Cultura Connects: Native American Indigenous
Join us for the final Cultura Connects program in our 2026 series featuring Native American Indigenous Traditions!
For this special event, we have partnered with the North American Indian Association of Detroit (NAIA) to share the culture and traditions of the Anishinaabe and Ojibwe peoples. Through traditional dance, meaningful cultural experiences, and delicious foods, guests will have the opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate. Attendees will also be invited to participate in dance and create their own artwork inspired by Indigenous traditions to take home as a reminder of this unique cultural experience.
Dance: Experience the Traditions
Grass Dance: A vibrant, energetic dance featuring flowing movements, intricate footwork, and colorful regalia inspired by prairie grasses.
Jingle Dress Dance: A traditional Anishinaabe dance symbolizing healing and prayer, featuring dresses adorned with jingling metal cones.
Round Dance: A traditional communal circle dance that symbolizes unity, healing, and connection among Indigenous tribes across North America.
Food: Taste the Traditions
Manoomin (Wild Rice): A culturally significant food harvested from lakes and waterways, nourishing Anishinaabe communities for generations.
Fry Bread: A popular food at Native gatherings with a history connected to Indigenous resilience and displacement.
Three Sisters Stew: A traditional plant-based dish featuring corn, beans, and squash, three crops that grow together and support one another.
Art: Create and Connect
Three Sisters Seed Pouches: Create a take-home seed pouch while learning how corn, beans, and squash are traditionally grown together.
Discover the Meaning: Explore the cultural significance of the Three Sisters and their connection to nature, sustainability, and Indigenous agricultural knowledge.

Michigan Folk Musicians Benefit Concert, Silent Auction & Food Drive
Join us at the historic Howell Opera House for the Howell Harvest Hunger Hoot, a benefit concert featuring talented Michigan folk musicians in support of Gleaners Community Food Bank.

After a fabulous inaugural season, Opera House Live - the Storytellers is back. Prepare to be transported to different worlds through the power of the spoken word. This second season promises evenings filled with laughter, wonder, and profound human connection, all within the beautifully intimate setting of the Howell Opera House.
This exciting new series will feature the talents of acclaimed storytellers from across the United States, each bringing their unique style and captivating narratives to the Howell stage. The audience can look forward to a diverse range of stories, all delivered with exceptional skill and artistry.

Join Richard Lim at the Howell Opera House for a progressive 8-week beginner Tai Chi series designed for anyone interested in learning the fundamentals of Tai Chi in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Each week, participants will learn a new beginner form while building on movements from previous classes. As the series progresses, the individual forms will be connected to create a smooth, flowing sequence. No previous Tai Chi experience is necessary—just come ready to move, breathe, and enjoy the process!
Because each class builds on what is learned the week before, individual classes are not available for separate registration or ticket purchase. When you register, you are signing up for the entire 8-week program.
If you aren’t able to join us for this session, we hope to offer another beginner Tai Chi series beginning next year, so there will be another opportunity to participate!

“CULTURA” - A Celebration of Culture through Music, Art & Food
Launched in October 2023, Cultura is an annual celebration of music, art, and food proudly co-hosted by the Livingston Diversity Council and the Livingston Arts Council in downtown Howell, Michigan. Since its inception, the event has become a beloved community tradition and is now held each year on the last Saturday in September.
Cultura is free and open to the public, welcoming everyone to experience the richness of cultures from around the world. Each year, the event showcases culturally significant performances and experiences through visual art, spoken word, music, dance, and cuisine.
Visitors can enjoy performances on two stages, explore visual art displayed throughout the historic Howell Opera House, and savor a variety of delicious offerings from some of the area's favorite food truck vendors.
New this year, we are excited to welcome cultural vendors to the event! We have space for 12 vendors to showcase and sell culturally inspired artwork, handcrafted goods, and other unique items that celebrate the diverse traditions and cultures represented at Cultura. Become a Cultura Vendor

Get ready to kick off Melon Season the right way at the Howell Melon Social on August 8th, starting at 6:00 PM!
This isn’t your typical fancy gala; it’s a fun-filled summer party with great food, live music, raffles, desserts, and plenty of laughs with friends and neighbors.
We’re bringing the energy all night long with Twilight Tunes Dueling Pianos, keeping everyone singing along, dancing, and grooving from start to finish.
Come hungry because C.C.’s Catering will be serving up an amazing dinner featuring roast beef & gravy, boneless chicken breast, lasagna, oven-roasted potatoes, green beans, and more. Plus, enjoy delicious desserts from a local bakery while you check out the awesome raffle baskets up for grabs throughout the evening.
We’ll also be proudly announcing this year’s Melon Court, a group of individuals who are true pillars of our community and help make Howell such a special place.
